Our methodology is based on

Our Levels

Basic Algorithms

Targeted Age Group: KG1, KG2, KG3

Topics involved: Coding Definition, Directional Language, Algorithms, Sequence, Debugging

Level 1 is where we lay the foundation for learning how to code for preschoolers. Our approach is through teaching the LOGO programming language that will allow the kids to build on their skills to use block programming at later ages. Having LOGO language as the core of the curriculum makes directional language the most essential prerequisite for the kid to possess before diving into the world of coding.

Main Learning Objectives

  • Identify the right or the left hand on one’s body and others.
  • Determine the right and the left directions.
  • Following and giving clear verbal instuctions using directional language.
  • Writing and reading simple algorithms.
  • Understand the elements of writing a working algorithm.

Variables & Loops

Targeted Age Group: KG2, KG3

Topics involved: Variables (Integers, Strings, and Booleans), Counter Loops.

Level 3 takes the students into more advanced topics in coding including variables and Loops. Students already were introduced to one type of variables called Booleans, without addressing the actual meaning of variables and other types such as integers and strings. Integer variables, which we will call number variables for simplicity, will be a core foundation that we will build on when learning about Loops.

The main learning objectives of this level are:

  • Understand what are variables, and recognize their use in daily life.
  • Identify different types of variables (Booleans, Integers, and Strings).
  • Define Loops and their components.
  • Recognize loops in daily life.
  • Recognize the importance of loops in programming.

Conditionals

Targeted Age Group: KG1, KG2, KG3

Topics involved: Rules, Cause & Effect, Booleans, Conditional Statements.

Level 2 of the coding curriculum deals with one type of coding concept called Conditionals. They are basically a set of rules that a computer program follows to make decisions in certain scenarios. This level revolves around reaching a full understanding of conditional statements in coding.

This level can be divided into four learning objectives:

  • Identify conditional Statement component
  • Understand a conditional statement
  • Perform a conditional statement
  • Create a conditional statement

Patterns & Conditional Loops

Targeted Age Group: KG3

Topics involved: Patterns, Conditional Loops, Digital Citizenship

As mentioned in the first level, our program focuses predominantly on introducing computational thinking approaches for preschoolers. However, even some computational thinking approaches can be complex for preschoolers. Although the students were learning them along the way, we didn’t shift their attention to them. Especially “Patterns Recognitions”, which students have encountered while learning about loops. They had to recognize what actions are repeated, which was recognizing a pattern. Thus level 4 will focus on some more advanced computational thinking and computer programming approaches. In addition, to picking up where level 3 left about loops. Students learned one type of loop in programming which is counter loops (i.e a loop that repeats a pre-set of times). In this level, they will learn about conditional loops, that are repeated until a certain condition is met (evaluated to true). Lastly, they will learn about technology and the proper use of technology.

The main learning objectives of this level are:

  • Identify and recognize patterns
  • Predict what should come next in patterns and create them.
  • Distinguish between loops that repeat a fixed number of times and loops that repeat until a condition is met.
  • Identify technology in our surroundings.
  • Explain how technology is used in my school and in different places.
  • Recognize when and why to take breaks from device time.
  • Consider the feelings of people around them, even when engaged in fun online activities.
  • Recognize the importance of asking for permission before using a device, and staying on trusted sites and apps.
